Flamenco, which Annika kept thinking was called Flamingo, is the traditional music and dance of Andalucia. There are concerts and performances throughout the summer, but usually starting at 10:30 pm, which still seems too late for our kids. We found a dinner and performance that begins at 8:30, so we made reservations, had the kids take a siesta (they rested, but still can’t fall asleep for a real nap), and arrived early, thinking it started punctually. We were treated to a 10-course meal for EUR 37 per adult and 17 per kid (the Euro and dollar are at almost parity now, so these prices are also in dollars). What we didn’t know was that the performance begins after everyone has eaten, and many diners didn’t show up until 10pm. The kids took a nap on our laps. When we left at 1 AM after a beautiful performance that the kids wanted to see through until the end, we took a drive through town on our way home, and saw many people strolling around the boardwalk, ranging from grandparents to tots in strollers.
We arrived to this beautiful, lush outdoor restaurant at a time that we thought was on-time for dinner (8:20), but turned out to be wayyyy too early. Still, we got to enjoy watching the barbecue just getting going.
